Product Description:
The FC-102P400T4E00 400KW variable frequency drive is produced by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. The unit interfaces with three-phase power installations to regulate the speed of induction motors that move air or chilled water in building automation systems. It supplies adjustable torque for HVAC equipment while reducing the need for mechanical throttling. This speed control can support fans, pumps, cooling towers, and air-handling systems that require output to vary with demand.
With a 400 V line supply, the drive delivers a rated motor output of 400 kW, equivalent to 600 hp at 460 V, while supporting a continuous apparent power of 516 kVA. The input section accepts line voltages from 380–480 VAC and draws 718 A under nominal load. The inverter supplies 745 A of phase current to the motor terminals. Its efficiency is 0.98, so approximately two percent of the handled energy is converted into heat. For circuit protection, a maximum external fuse of 900 A may be fitted. The drive uses a 6-pulse front end that connects directly to standard utility transformers.
For transient load peaks, the normal overload margin permits 110% for 60 seconds, and the inverter can supply 820 A for the same duration during fault clearing. Internal monitoring trips the control card at 85 °C to help prevent thermal damage. Total power loss at full load reaches 8677 W, so the enclosure ventilation must accommodate the resulting heat. The open-chassis construction has a protection rating of IP00, requiring installation inside a suitably rated panel. Cable terminations accommodate four 240 mm² conductors for the line and motor connections and two 185 mm² conductors for the optional brake link. Compliance with a vibration test of 1.0 g supports mounting on rooftop air-handler frames without additional damping.
