The FC-102P18KT4 is a variable frequency drive built by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. It belongs to the VLT HVAC Drive product group and is intended to regulate the speed of three-phase induction motors that run pumps, fans, and air-handling equipment in building automation. By modulating the 380–480 VAC mains it supplies optimized torque and airflow while reducing energy consumption in ventilation and chiller circuits.
It accepts a continuous input current of 34 A on three-phase supply lines between 380 and 439 V and converts that power into a motor output limited to 37.5 A of continuous current in the same voltage window. At 400 V the inverter delivers 26 kVA of apparent power, and the rating rises to 27.1 kVA when the bus is fed with 460 V, giving designers clear capacity margins across common utility levels. Conversion efficiency reaches 0.98, so only 2 % of incoming energy is lost as heat; that loss is quantified as 465 W and must be removed by the surrounding panel ventilation. Two analog command channels and six digital inputs allow direct connection to Building Management System sensors and dry-contact controls.
The displacement power factor remains above 0.98, which minimizes reactive load on facility transformers, and the drive can tolerate 110 % for 1 min overload to handle damper swings or pump startups. Its mechanical output is rated at 25 HP, equivalent to 18.5 kW, and branch protection should use a 50 A fuse when the mains lie between 380 and 480 V. Short-circuit current withstand is 65 kA when a disconnect is installed and 100 kA without it, enabling placement in high-fault industrial panels. Three-phase power compatibility and the internal series identifier 102 align the unit with other VLT controllers for consistent commissioning.
