Product Description:
The FC-102P18K is a variable-frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. Classified within the VLT HVAC Drive product group, the unit modulates the speed of three-phase induction motors in air-handling units, cooling towers, and pump stations, providing closed-loop flow control for building management systems. By converting fixed mains power into a variable voltage-frequency output, the drive supports energy-efficient operation in industrial and commercial HVAC installations.
The drive delivers a continuous output power of 18.5 kW, equivalent to 25 HP, so it can run medium-sized fan wheels or centrifugal pumps under rated load. Its energy performance is grouped in the IE2 efficiency class, limiting internal losses and cabinet heat. Protection against mains transients is provided by an Overvoltage Category III rating, and the unit tolerates a supply phase imbalance of up to 3.0% without tripping. Motor terminals can be switched an unlimited number of times per minute, while the overall unit restart frequency is restricted to one power-up every 60 seconds. The safe torque off channel draws 50 mA rms, and commanded torque reaches the reference value within a 10 ms rise time, enabling precise damper or valve positioning.
The drive operates at ambient temperatures from 0 °C to 50 °C and sustains a full load at elevations up to 1000 m. It also passes a 1.0 g vibration test for panel-mounted equipment. For rapid acceleration demands, it supplies a starting torque boost of 135% for 0.5 seconds, supporting high-inertia air movers. Cable routing can accommodate up to 300 m of unshielded motor leads or 150 m when shielding is required for electromagnetic compatibility. These cable limits allow the drive to be positioned remotely from connected fans or pumps while maintaining the required motor connection.
