Product Description:
The FC-102N250T4 is a variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. It modulates the speed of three-phase induction motors that move air or water in ventilation and chiller systems, improving energy use while matching system demand. By adjusting motor frequency, the FC-102N250T4 allows building automation controllers to fine-tune fan, pump, and compressor performance instead of relying on throttling dampers or valves. This variable-speed operation can reduce unnecessary mechanical restriction while providing responsive control over heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment.
With a 380–480 VAC three-phase supply, the drive converts fixed mains power into a variable output spanning 0–590 Hz. In standard HVAC duty, it delivers 480 A of continuous current at 400 V and can sustain 110% torque for 60 seconds to overcome transient load spikes. Electrical conversion losses are low, with an overall drive efficiency of 0.98. The enclosure measures 1,122 mm tall, 350 mm wide, and 375 mm deep and weighs 125 kg, while housing power electronics suitable for fan or pump motors rated up to 250 kW, or about 350 hp. Cable terminals accept up to two 185 mm² conductors per phase, providing the conductor capacity required for the drive’s current output.
During startup or brief overloads, the inverter can output 528 A for 60 seconds while drawing up to 463 A from a 400 V supply. External protection should be sized for these operating conditions, and the maximum incoming feeder fuse rating is 630 A. Internal power loss under these electrical conditions is 5,137 W, which supports the calculation of panel ventilation or other cooling requirements. Its three-phase topology and large conductor capacity support installation with high-power chillers and multi-cell air-handling units without requiring an additional autotransformer. The variable output frequency also allows connected motors to operate across a broad speed range while the building controller adjusts airflow or water flow in response to changing demand.
