Internal Product Review

The FC-102 130B1151 is a Danfoss VLT HVAC drive with 2 analog inputs and 1 analog output. Signal processing is well suited to building automation, pairing a 0/4-20 mA and 0-10 V DC analog input range with 200 Hz analog input bandwidth. A 5 ms scan interval makes the unit a strong choice for responsive HVAC drive control.

Product Description:

The FC-102 130B1151 AC drive is manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. It is installed in air handlers, chillers, and pump skids to vary induction motor speed in response to building management commands, reducing energy use while maintaining airflow or pressure. The drive’s electronics combine analog, digital, and fieldbus channels so that a plant controller can read process variables and issue torque references through a single enclosure-mounted device.

A regulated 10 V reference is available at 10.5 V ±0.5 V for potentiometer position feedback, and auxiliary sensors can be powered from the 24 V supply, which provides up to 200 mA. Two analog inputs accept signals at frequencies up to 200 Hz. Their selectable signal range of 0/4–20 mA or 0–10 V DC allows current or voltage transmitters to use the same terminals. One analog output reproduces process values within a range of 0/4–20 mA for remote indicators. Digital control is handled through six logic inputs that tolerate up to 28 V DC and a single transistor output rated for 40 mA, allowing the drive to report its status to interlock relays. Two pulse inputs share the encoder port so that high-resolution flow meters can be counted without blocking the analog channels. Motor coasting is the default response to an emergency power loss because the Safe Stop function is not installed.

The pulse channels register frequencies up to 110 kHz, providing sufficient resolution for turbine meters on fast supply loops. Tasks are executed every 5 ms, and the drive refreshes its PI regulators at the same interval to maintain responsive process control. Host devices can poll parameters over the RS-485 interface on terminals 68 and 69, while a keypad can connect through the USB port, which complies with the USB 1.1 full-speed standard.
