Product Description:
The 174L3020 is an AC variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. Designed for building ventilation systems, it modulates the speed of induction motors that drive fans and pumps, allowing the connected equipment to maintain airflow and pressure setpoints while reducing energy use. By converting fixed-frequency mains power into a controllable output, the unit can work with building management networks to automate air-handling equipment, chillers, and booster pumps in commercial facilities. Its variable-speed operation also reduces unnecessary motor loading when the system requires less airflow or fluid movement.
The drive accepts a 200–240 VAC mains supply, making it suitable for low-voltage three-phase services commonly found in mechanical rooms. It has standard cable entries with preformed knockouts that accommodate common metric or NPT cable glands without additional machining. Because the unit has no brake chopper, regenerative energy produced during rapid deceleration must be managed by the motor or suitable external braking equipment. The drive is supplied with no local control panel, so parameter access requires a compatible detachable keypad or PC-based configuration tool. The enclosure and electrical layout support installation in HVAC control panels where organized cable routing and access to upstream protection devices are required.
The drive is supplied with no C1 option, so an appropriate external filter may be required when first-environment category C1 emission limits apply. It also has no software option in the C-slot, leaving the unit with its base HVAC control functions. Menu text is provided through the Standard Language Pack, which supports navigation in the default group of available user languages. The unit includes no integrated mains option, so the upstream panel must provide the required circuit breakers, fuses, or disconnect switches in accordance with local electrical codes. This arrangement places supply isolation and overcurrent protection outside the drive enclosure while preserving access to the input power terminals. Proper upstream protection also allows the installation to account for the available fault current and the requirements of the connected motor circuit.
