The 131U0978 is an AC variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss and supplied in the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. Within building automation systems, the unit modulates induction motor speed so that fans, pumps, and compressors can respond to real-time demand instead of operating at a fixed frequency. By connecting the drive platform to industrial communication buses, facility controllers can adjust energy use while maintaining ventilation, pumping, or chiller performance across commercial facilities.
The continuous motor output is rated at 1.1 kW, which corresponds to 1.5 HP. The drive accepts a mains supply of 380-480 VAC from a three-phase power network, allowing connection to common industrial feeders without a step-up transformer. Because the design has no brake chopper, regenerative energy cannot be dissipated through a braking resistor connected directly to the drive. Applications that generate substantial energy during deceleration require a suitable external regenerative energy solution or a load that can absorb the returned energy. Field wiring uses standard cable entries associated with the Adaptation A setting, while Adaptation B has no additional adaptation. Option slots A, B, D, and C0 are vacant, and neither a dedicated C1 option nor a mains disconnect module is installed.
The drive includes a graphical local control panel (LCP), which provides direct access to operating data and adjustable parameters without requiring a separate handheld device. Conducted electrical emissions are reduced by an integrated RFI Class A1/B (C1) filter. This filter is built into the drive and does not occupy the otherwise unused C1 option slot. The electronics use an uncoated printed circuit board, so the unit should be installed in a clean, dry, and non-condensing switch room when humidity or chemical vapors may be present. A suitable enclosure and controlled airflow can help protect the internal electronics from dust, moisture, and airborne contaminants while allowing generated heat to dissipate.
