Product Description:

The 131N5656 is an AC variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. It controls three-phase induction motors used to move air or water through commercial heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems. By adjusting the frequency and voltage supplied to the motor, the drive allows a building automation controller to match fan or pump output to real-time demand. Variable-speed operation reduces unnecessary motor output during periods of low demand, helping lower energy consumption and mechanical stress on connected equipment.

The drive connects to utility mains rated at 380–480 VAC and accepts three-phase power from standard industrial distribution panels. This input range supports common commercial and industrial electrical systems without requiring a separate voltage conversion stage. The drive includes a factory-installed mains disconnect that isolates the inverter from its incoming supply without requiring an additional external disconnect switch. Its filter stage meets RFI Class A1/B (C1) requirements to limit conducted electrical interference on building wiring. A detachable graphical local control panel displays operating parameters, drive status, and service alarms at the installation site. The panel also provides direct access to the drive’s available settings when local adjustments or diagnostic reviews are necessary.

The enclosure uses standard cable entries, allowing common cable glands and routing methods to be used without specialized gland plates. No special adaptation is applied to the drive, and the A, B, and D accessory positions are left unpopulated. The C0 and C1 expansion positions are also unused, leaving the base control architecture to manage the connected HVAC load. The power stage has no brake chopper, so applications that require rapid motor deceleration must use suitable external braking equipment. Without an internal brake chopper, regenerative energy produced during a fast stop cannot be directed to a braking resistor by the drive itself. The printed circuit boards are uncoated PCBs, making the unit better suited to clean electrical rooms where moisture, corrosive vapor, and airborne contamination are controlled. Proper enclosure conditions help protect the internal electronics when the drive operates near air-handling or water-pumping equipment.
