The 131N5656 is an industrial frequency converter. It is developed for motor control applications in industrial processes. The converter controls motors by varying the amplitude and frequency of its AC output. As the frequency and amplitude of the AC mains input to the unit are fixed, it can’t pass on the supply from the AC mains to the motor to control its parameters. The power stages in the converter use a rectifier stage for AC to DC conversion. Once the input AC has been converter to DC, the DC is then inverted by the inverter stage to obtain AC output. The inversion process is controlled by algorithms that allow production of AC with variable parameters. This variable output is fed to the motor to control its speed and position. 131N5656 belongs to Danfoss’s VLT HAVE FC-102 series which is optimized for large-scale HVAC applications.
