Product Description:
The 131F1796 is an AC variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. The unit alters the frequency and voltage supplied to induction motors so building automation systems can match fan, pump, or compressor speed to the real-time load while conserving energy. Its control algorithms are tuned for HVAC duty cycles, supporting applications such as air-handling units, chilled-water pumps, and condenser fans. Variable-speed operation also reduces the need for mechanical throttling methods that restrict airflow or fluid flow while the motor continues running at full speed.
The drive connects to a 200–240 VAC supply and requires three-phase power, matching common 208 V distribution panels in mechanical rooms. Continuous shaft output is rated at 15 kW, equivalent to 20 HP, allowing it to handle medium-capacity air-moving equipment. An IP21 / Type 1 backplate enclosure protects the electronics from accidental finger contact and falling dirt, but the unit must be mounted indoors. The chassis uses the Frame B and C backplate layout for open-drive installations and releases heat through a rear heat sink. Because no brake chopper is installed, the drive cannot route regenerative energy to a resistor bank during rapid deceleration. The mains option board monitors the phase sequence of the incoming electrical supply.
Electromagnetic interference is limited by the integrated RFI filter, making the drive suitable for panels that also contain sensitive control wiring. Users interact with the drive through the graphical local control panel, which provides direct access to operating values and adjustable parameters without external tools. An internal mains disconnect isolates incoming power during service. Wiring passes through standard cable entries that accept metric cable glands and help organize conductors at the enclosure. Slots A, B, C0, C1, and D are empty, and adaptation B is not included. The unit does not include a brake safe-stop circuit, so any required safety-related stopping function must be provided separately. Its uncoated printed circuit boards require installation in a clean, dry location away from excessive moisture and airborne contaminants.
