The 131F0172 is an AC variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss within the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. It regulates the speed of induction motors used in air-handling units, pumps, chillers, and other HVAC equipment. Electronic speed control allows connected equipment to respond to changing building loads without relying on mechanical throttling. This control can help maintain temperature and airflow setpoints while reducing unnecessary energy consumption and mechanical stress. The drive can receive operating commands from a building automation system or use locally entered settings to regulate the connected motor.
For electrical integration, the drive accepts a supply ranging from 380 to 480 VAC and uses a three-phase power input commonly available in industrial and commercial facilities. Its IP21 / Type 1 enclosure rating supports installation in dry equipment rooms when the required mounting clearances and protective measures are provided. An internal RFI filter limits conducted electrical interference that could otherwise travel through the supply wiring and affect nearby equipment. The drive contains an uncoated printed circuit board, so its installation location should protect the electronics from condensation, corrosive vapors, and excessive airborne contamination. The configuration has no brake chopper, which means a dynamic braking resistor cannot be connected directly to this model. Expansion slots C0 and C1 are also vacant, and Adaptation B is set to no adaptation. The standard language pack supplies the default interface text used by the local control panel. Cable routing should preserve ventilation clearances so internal heat can leave the enclosure during continuous operation.
