Product Description:
The 131B7648 variable-frequency drive is manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. It regulates the speed of centrifugal fans, pumps, and cooling towers, allowing building automation systems to match airflow or fluid flow to changing demand. The drive converts fixed-frequency grid power into a programmable motor output that supports stable pressure, temperature, and flow control. Reducing motor speed during periods of lower demand can decrease energy consumption and limit mechanical stress on connected HVAC equipment. Its application range includes commercial buildings, industrial ventilation systems, chilled-water plants, and other installations that require adjustable motor speed.
The power section accepts 380–480 VAC and uses three-phase power, allowing direct connection to compatible building distribution networks. The IP55 / Type 12 enclosure protects internal components from dust and water jets, making the drive suitable for locations where greater protection than an open chassis provides is required. An integrated EMC network rated as RFI Class A1/B (C1) reduces conducted electrical noise that could otherwise affect nearby equipment or the supply network. A front-mounted numerical local control panel provides access to operating values, parameter settings, and alarm information. Its display allows users to review speed and current without opening the enclosure. The drive does not include an integrated mains disconnect, so an appropriate upstream isolator is required to disconnect incoming power.
The enclosure uses standard cable entries for routing power, motor, and control wiring through the factory-provided openings. No additional conduit plate is installed, so cable glands and conduit hardware must be selected to suit the installation while preserving enclosure protection. The drive has no brake chopper and therefore cannot switch regenerated DC-bus energy to a braking resistor through an internal braking circuit. Deceleration settings must account for the behavior of the connected fan or pump so that returning energy does not raise the DC-bus voltage beyond its allowable range. The unit contains uncoated printed circuit boards, so it should be kept away from corrosive fumes, conductive dust, and chemically aggressive airborne contaminants. Proper cabinet placement and clean ventilation help prevent deposits from accumulating on exposed electronic surfaces during long-term operation.
