The 131B6945 is a variable-frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. In ventilation and chilled-water systems, the unit modulates induction motor speed to match real-time demand, reducing energy consumption and mechanical wear on fans or pumps. Variable-speed operation also allows the connected equipment to maintain airflow, pressure, or water circulation without relying entirely on mechanical throttling devices. The drive can receive control commands from a building automation system or operate according to locally configured process settings.
Electrical connections use factory-wired terminals designed for standard cable entries, simplifying the gland-plate layout when the drive is mounted in a motor control center or rooftop package. The unit has no B-side adaptation, leaving the corresponding area available for field wiring bends and cable routing. This configuration includes no brake chopper, so a braking resistor cannot be connected through an internal chopper circuit. Motor deceleration must therefore remain within the drive’s available ramp-down capability or be managed by suitable external equipment. The power section accepts a mains supply of 380 – 480 VAC, accommodating common commercial and industrial voltage systems. It operates with three-phase power, which provides balanced line loading for compatible HVAC motors.
An integrated RFI filter attenuates conducted electrical emissions on the line and motor connections, helping limit interference with nearby building automation and communication equipment. Local interaction is provided through a detachable graphical local control panel. Its backlit display and keypad provide plain-text access to operating values, alarms, and adjustable parameters without requiring a separate interface device. The control electronics use an uncoated PCB, making installation most appropriate in clean, filtered environments that are free from corrosive gases, conductive dust, and persistent condensation. The unit uses the VLT HVAC Drive control platform, which provides operating functions for common fan, pump, pressure-control, and temperature-control applications. Sleep functions can stop the motor during periods of low demand, while process-control features allow operation to respond to changing conditions within the connected HVAC system.
