Product Description:
The 131B5488 is a variable-frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. It regulates the speed of three-phase induction motors used in air-handling units, pumps, and chillers. This speed control allows building automation systems to adjust airflow or fluid flow in response to changing demand, reducing unnecessary motor operation and energy consumption. The drive is intended for commercial HVAC systems that require controlled acceleration, deceleration, and continuous speed adjustment. Its application range includes ventilation equipment, chilled-water systems, circulation pumps, and other motor-driven building services.
The inverter accepts a mains supply of 380–480 VAC from a three-phase power network and converts it into a modulated output for the connected motor. Its motor output is rated at 5.5 kW, which corresponds to a mechanical shaft capability of 7.5 HP. The IP55 / Type 12 enclosure protects the internal electronics from dust and low-pressure water jets, allowing installation in suitable mechanical rooms without an additional cabinet. The unit does not include a brake chopper, so applications requiring rapid stopping must account for the available deceleration method. Safe Stop operation relies on flux reduction rather than integrated dynamic braking hardware. The printed circuit board does not have a protective coating and should not be exposed to corrosive gases or excessive airborne contamination.
An internal filter meets RFI Class A1/B (C1) requirements for conducted emissions on public low-voltage networks. Local operation is provided through a detachable graphical local control panel, which offers text displays, operating trends, status information, and parameter access. Field wiring passes through standard cable entries provided by the Adaptation A layout. Adaptation B has no added adaptation, so side-mounted accessories are not preinstalled. The drive does not include a mains disconnect module or an additional B-option relay set. Its standard language pack provides multilingual menu access for local configuration and operating review. Building automation controllers can issue operating commands and speed references appropriate for variable-air-volume systems, pumping loops, and chiller auxiliaries. The accessible control interface also supports routine monitoring of motor status, drive conditions, and active operating values without opening the enclosure.
