Product Description:
The 131B4980 variable frequency drive is produced by Danfoss and belongs to the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. Designed for fan, pump, and compressor duty in commercial building automation systems, the unit converts fixed-frequency mains power into a regulated output that lets facility controllers match motor speed to real-time air-handling or chiller demand. When integrated into central plant panels, the drive provides dedicated HVAC functions such as flow compensation and automatic reset, supporting energy savings and smooth equipment startup.
The drive delivers a continuous shaft output of 18.5 kW, equivalent to 25 HP, so it can operate medium-sized supply and return fans without external step-up gearing. Its rectifier and inverter sections accept utility power at 380–480 VAC, and the power stack is arranged for three-phase power distribution commonly used in large mechanical rooms. A factory-installed IP55 / Type 12 enclosure protects the internal electronics against airborne dust and directed water jets, allowing wall or panel mounting in washdown areas. To help nearby equipment meet electromagnetic compatibility limits, the unit includes an integrated RFI filter that suppresses conducted noise on both the line and motor leads. This protection can reduce the need for additional external filtering or a separate protective enclosure in suitable installations.
Operator interaction is handled by the built-in graphical local control panel, which presents real-time energy data, alarm logs, and quick-setup menus directly at the cabinet. Cabling is simplified by standard cable entries that align with metric glands, so special plate drilling is not required during retrofit installations. For applications in climate-controlled equipment rooms, the control boards use an uncoated PCB that is suitable for noncorrosive air environments. The accessible display also allows operating information and active alarms to be reviewed locally without requiring a separate external interface.
