Product Description:
The 131B4240 is a variable-frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. Intended for fan, pump, and compressor control in building automation, it modulates induction motor speed to match real-time airflow or pressure demands while reducing unnecessary energy consumption. The drive adjusts motor output in response to system commands, allowing connected HVAC equipment to operate at the speed required by the current load. Its design supports applications such as air handlers, chilled-water pumps, cooling towers, and ventilation systems.
The drive accepts a mains supply of 380–480 VAC and is wired for three-phase power, allowing direct connection to common industrial distribution grids. Its enclosure has an IP20 chassis rating, so the unit must be installed inside a suitable cabinet where limited ingress protection is adequate. An integrated RFI filter attenuates conducted emissions and supports electromagnetic compatibility within the electrical installation. The control boards have a coated PCB finish that resists condensation and airborne contaminants, supporting operation in humid mechanical rooms. Standard cabinet mounting across A, B, and C frame sizes provides a consistent arrangement for the drive and its wiring. The unit does not include a dedicated mains disconnect, so supply isolation must be provided elsewhere in the electrical system. Option slots A, B, C0, C1, and D are empty, leaving space for compatible application modules when additional control functions are required.
A front-mounted graphical local control panel provides access to operating parameters, status information, and drive diagnostics without requiring a separate interface. The panel allows local commands and menu navigation at the installed unit, which is useful when checking motor behavior or adjusting control settings. Wiring glands use standard cable entries, helping conduit and cable routes remain consistent with other equipment in the VLT product line. The drive has no brake chopper, so regenerative motor energy produced during deceleration cannot be dissipated through an internally controlled braking resistor. That energy must instead be managed by the mechanical load or another suitable external arrangement. The menu structure corresponds to series identifier 102 and provides the functions associated with HVAC motor control. Adaptation B is set for no adaptation, while the unoccupied option positions indicate that this unit has the base control configuration.
