Product Description:
The 131B4224 is an AC variable-frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss as part of the VLT FC 102 HVAC Drives series. In ventilation, pumping, and compressor systems, it regulates motor speed to maintain target flow or pressure while reducing unnecessary energy consumption. Its variable-speed output allows connected equipment to respond gradually to changes in demand instead of operating continuously at full speed. The drive can serve as the main motor-control element in industrial and commercial HVAC systems that require stable operation under changing loads.
This model delivers a continuous output of 5.5 kW, which corresponds to 7.5 HP. It accepts a mains supply of 380–480 VAC from a three-phase power network, making it suitable for common industrial distribution systems. The enclosure has an IP55 / Type 12 rating, providing protection against dust and water exposure in indoor plant areas. This enclosure allows the unit to be mounted near compatible HVAC equipment when the required installation clearances and airflow are maintained. The drive does not include a brake chopper, so regenerative energy must be managed by the connected load or suitable external braking equipment. Its internal circuit boards are not conformally coated and should be protected from corrosive gases, condensation, and excessive airborne contamination. Safe-stop braking functions are not included, so any required machine safety functions must be implemented through appropriate external controls.
The integrated electromagnetic compatibility filter meets RFI Class A1/B (C1), supporting compliance with applicable conducted-emission limits when proper grounding and shielded wiring practices are used. Daily operation is handled through the Graphical Local Control Panel, which presents operating values, menus, alarms, and status information through text and icons. The panel uses the Standard Language Pack to provide accessible menu navigation for routine configuration and monitoring. Field wiring passes through standard cable entries arranged in the drive’s default metric pattern. These entries provide organized routing for mains, motor, and control conductors while helping preserve the enclosure’s protective rating when suitable glands are installed. Application control relies on the standard FC 102 functions because no additional software expansion is installed, while the base logic supports the primary control requirements of pumps, fans, and compressors.
