Product Description:
The FC-301P5K5T2134L2171 is an AC variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss in the VLT FC 301 Automation Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency three-phase mains power into a modulated output, allowing control systems to adjust induction motor speed according to real-time load demands. This variable-speed operation can reduce wasted energy and mechanical stress in conveyor, pump, and fan applications. The drive also provides the regulated motor output needed for automated processes that require controlled acceleration, deceleration, and continuous speed adjustment.
During operation, the inverter accepts a three-phase supply between 200–240 VAC and draws up to 8.7 kVA at 208 V or 9.6 kVA at 230 V. Its continuous motor output is rated at 5.5 kW, which is suitable for mid-frame IEC motors. At rated load, the power stage reaches an efficiency of 0.96, limiting heat buildup inside control cabinets. An analog monitor channel supports loads up to 500 Ω, while the digital inputs accept signals up to 28 V DC. The transistor outputs can switch field logic for communication with external control devices. Flux-mode operation is available at frequencies up to 300 Hz for processes that require an extended constant-torque range, while the standard vector algorithm handles normal constant-power operation.
The maximum output frequency reaches 590 Hz, with the flux-boost algorithm supporting operation near this upper limit. Start-stop cycling is restricted to two power-ups per minute to protect the charging capacitors from excessive electrical stress. During braking, the DC link can rise to 390 V DC so regenerated energy can be dissipated through an external resistor. The programmable digital output supplies up to 40 mA, and the relay contact is rated for 240 V AC at 2 A for status or fault signaling. Motor leads may extend up to 50 m when shielded or 75 m when unshielded, providing flexibility when the drive and motor are installed in separate locations. Copper conductors may have a cross-sectional area of up to 10 mm² without derating.
