Product Description:
The 131F8408 is an AC variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT FC 301 Automation Drives series. It is intended for cabinet installation in industrial automation systems that require adjustable motor speed and torque. The drive can control motors used in material-handling equipment, pumps, fans, and other machinery with variable operating demands. By adjusting the frequency and voltage supplied to the motor, it allows the connected equipment to operate at speeds suited to the process rather than remaining at a fixed line frequency.
The drive delivers a continuous output of 11 kW, which is equivalent to 15 HP and provides sufficient capacity for medium-sized asynchronous motors. It accepts a mains supply ranging from 380–480 VAC on a three-phase power network. This input range allows the unit to connect directly to compatible industrial power systems without separate voltage-conversion equipment. An integrated brake chopper activates during rapid deceleration and directs regenerated energy to an external braking resistor, preventing excessive voltage in the DC link. The cabinet-mounting design allows airflow to pass over the heat sink and remove heat generated by the power electronics. Adequate clearance around the drive supports unrestricted cooling and helps maintain stable operation under continuous load.
The enclosure has an IP20 chassis rating, which protects against accidental contact with internal electrical parts when the drive is installed inside a suitable cabinet. Wiring uses standard cable entries, allowing power, motor, and control conductors to be routed through conventional cabinet openings. Parameter access is provided by a graphical local control panel with text readouts and menu navigation, allowing operating values and settings to be viewed directly at the drive. The control boards have a coated finish that helps shield sensitive circuitry from dust, salt, and condensation. The unit does not include an extra EMC filter, so any additional filtering required for a particular installation must be provided externally. Its base configuration also leaves optional communication and application modules available for selection according to the control system and installation requirements.
