Product Description:
The 131B5236 AC drive is manufactured by Danfoss and belongs to the VLT FC 301 Automation Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency three-phase mains power into variable-voltage and variable-frequency output so plant controllers can regulate induction motor speed, improve energy use, and reduce mechanical wear on pumps, fans, and conveyors. The integrated control, power electronics, and filter stages allow the unit to mount directly on a machine frame rather than inside a large cabinet.
Electrical performance centers on an efficiency of 0.97, meaning only three percent of input power is lost as heat. The rectifier accepts grid voltages from 380 VAC to 480 VAC, allowing a single model to operate on 400 V or 460 V networks without tap changes. At 400 V, the inverter supplies 3.9 kVA, which corresponds to 3 HP of motor output and matches the 2.2 kW continuous rating. Estimated power loss is 88 W, so the heat sinks and airflow must dissipate that thermal load. Under steady conditions, the output bridge regulates 5.6 A RMS to the motor while sampling phase current for overload detection.
High-speed operation is supported by a maximum output frequency of 590 Hz, enabling compact motors to run well above base speed when required. For rapid acceleration, the drive can deliver an overload current of 9.0 A while drawing a nominal input current of 5.0 A from the supply. The corrosion-resistant enclosure carries an IP66 rating and meets NEMA 4X standards, providing protection against water jets and airborne dust. Full output current is available at ambient temperatures up to 50 °C and altitudes up to 1,000 m. Above those limits, automatic derating helps protect the power semiconductors from excessive thermal stress. The drive also has an EMC classification of A1/B (C1), supporting operation where controlled electromagnetic emissions are required.
