The VLT 3006 is an AC variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VLT 3000 Variable Speed Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency, three-phase mains power into controlled output voltage and frequency, allowing plant controllers to adjust the speed and torque of induction motors. By matching motor performance to process requirements, the unit helps conveyors, pumps, and general machinery operate efficiently in industrial automation systems. Its adjustable output also supports controlled acceleration and deceleration, reducing abrupt mechanical loading during routine operation.
Constant-torque mode supports applications with heavy starting loads. At 230 V, the drive delivers a constant-torque apparent power of 7.6 kVA. It can accept a maximum constant-torque input current of 30.0 A and provide a constant-torque output current of 19.0 A to the motor terminals. The rated mechanical output in this mode is 4.0 kW, making the drive suitable for a 4 kW motor operating at nominal speed. On a 500 V supply, the constant-torque apparent power is 7.1 kVA, while the higher supply voltage reduces the required line current. In variable-torque service at 230 V, the drive provides an apparent power of 10.0 kVA and an output current of 25.0 A. This operating mode is intended for centrifugal fans and pumps, where the required torque decreases substantially as speed is reduced.
With a 415 V mains supply, the constant-torque apparent power is 7.2 kVA. Under these conditions, the drive can supply 10.0 A of constant-torque output current while drawing a maximum input current of 16.0 A. On a 500 V supply, the constant-torque output current decreases to 8.2 A, and the maximum input current falls to 13.1 A, allowing the connected conductors and protective devices to be sized for the lower current demand. For variable-torque duty at 415 V, the drive supports a mechanical output of 5.5 kW and a corresponding apparent power of 9.3 kVA. The variable-torque output current is 13.0 A at 415 V and 8.2 A at 500 V. These current values support connection to appropriately rated IEC motors without applying excessive voltage to the motor insulation system.
