Product Description:
The VLT 3004 is an AC variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT 3000 Variable Speed Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency three-phase mains power into a modulated output waveform so controllers can vary induction motor speed to match process demand. The product is installed in pump, fan, and conveyor systems to replace mechanical throttling with electronic regulation and thereby reduce energy consumption.
This drive delivers nominal motor power of 2.2 kW, providing continuous mechanical output for the connected motor. Electrical conversion efficiency reaches 0.96, so only minor heat is generated; thermal losses peak at 130 W when the inverter operates at full load. Under feedback control, the speed regulator holds a closed-loop deviation of ±0.1 %. The frequency setpoint resolution is ±0.05 %, allowing precise command adjustments. Two start-stop cycles per minute are permitted according to the specified input switching rate. A motor-side lead length of 300 m is allowed with unshielded conductors, while fully shielded cable is limited to 150 m, and the power terminals accept wire up to 2.5 mm². Panel builders can reference enclosure weights of 7.4 kg for IP00, 8.0 kg for IP21, and 11.0 kg for IP54 when designing mounting structures.
Ambient operation is supported from -10 °C up to +40 °C without derating. In sensorless modes, the inverter tracks the speed command with an open-loop accuracy of ±0.01 %, maintaining predictable motor behavior without encoder feedback. Mechanical testing confirms continuous service at vibration levels of 0.7 g, so the unit can be mounted directly on machinery frames or skid panels. The moderate thermal load reduces the amount of heat that must be removed from the enclosure during continuous operation.
