Product Description:

The 175L1017 is a variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss within the VLT 3000 Variable Speed Drives series. It modulates the voltage and frequency supplied to standard AC motors so conveyor lines, pumps, or fans can run at the speed demanded by the process rather than the fixed speed of the mains supply, improving control and lowering energy use in industrial automation. A shaft output capability of 1.1 kW pairs the drive with IEC motors around 1.5 hp, and a fixed 50/60 Hz supply frequency range lets it operate on grids worldwide.

The drive accepts a three-phase input of 3 x 440/460/500 V so it can be wired directly to common high-voltage plant feeders. When loaded to its nameplate rating, it converts that power with an efficiency of 96%, minimizing waste heat. Motor current delivery is limited to 2.6 A in continuous operation, while a microprocessor sets pulse patterns up to 14 kHz to keep acoustic noise low. Output frequency can be increased to 500 Hz, allowing oversynchronous operation of high-speed spindles, but the controller will not exceed the 100 Hz figure reserved for nominal motor ratings. A line fuse of up to 16 A protects the supply, and electronic thermal sensing shuts the unit down if the motor thermistor indicates overheating. The inverter reproduces the full mains level on its terminals, delivering up to 100% of the supply voltage when required.

Cabling provisions include a maximum conductor size of 2.5 mm², 150 m of shielded motor leads, and 300 m of total unshielded length, so installation can follow long plant cable trays without signal instability. For short overload demands, the output stage withstands 3.4 A for sixty seconds before current foldback occurs. The unit stays within its rated range up to 40 °C ambient without derating, supporting climates typical of indoor machinery rooms.
