The 175H7291 is a variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss within the VLT 3000 Variable Speed Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency three-phase mains power into a regulated output that allows controllers to adjust induction motor speed and torque in automated conveyors, pumps, and fans. By modulating power electronically, the unit can replace mechanical throttling and reduce energy consumption in industrial automation. Its control capabilities also allow motor output to follow changing process demands without requiring mechanical speed-control components.
During constant-torque duty, the drive supplies 15.0 kW of mechanical power while accepting an input voltage of 3 × 440/460/500 V ±10% at 50/60 Hz. The constant-torque input section draws 26.8 A, and the drive uses an IP20 enclosure suitable for cabinet mounting in clean indoor areas. In the same operating mode, the output delivers 27.9 A and 24.2 kVA. Unrestricted transistor switching supports high-frequency control loops without imposing a fixed switching-cycle limit. Electronic thermal protection monitors heat buildup and initiates derating before internal components reach their temperature limits. A built-in brake option handles regenerated energy during the deceleration of high-inertia loads. The integrated radio-frequency interference filter reduces conducted electrical noise on the supply lines.
For variable-torque applications, the inverter withstands an overload current of 44.6 A for 60 seconds. It then provides a continuous output current of 41.4 A while delivering up to 35.9 kVA of output power. Field wiring enters through cable glands that accommodate conductors with a maximum cross-sectional area of 16.0 mm². The upstream protection fuse must not exceed 50 A to provide coordinated short-circuit protection. These variable-torque capabilities support loads such as pumps and fans, where torque demand changes with operating speed. Fine output control allows the drive to respond when process demand fluctuates rapidly, while electronic protection helps maintain operation within the permitted current and thermal limits.
