Product Description:
Danfoss manufactures the 175H7248, an AC variable frequency drive in the VLT 3000 Variable Speed Drives series. The unit converts fixed-frequency three-phase mains power into a modulated output so plant controllers can adjust induction motor speed and torque to match process demand. Typical applications include conveyors, fans, and pumps where constant mechanical speed would waste energy or place unnecessary stress on equipment. A cabinet-mount frame and integral operator panel allow the inverter to fit OEM machinery that must conserve panel space while still providing networked parameter access and fault reporting.
At its continuous operating point, the drive provides a rated shaft output of 2.2 kW, which corresponds to an electrical rating of 4.0 kVA at the terminals and a rated output current of 5.6 A. These values support proper motor sizing and breaker selection during system design. Overall efficiency is 0.96, meaning only four percent of the supplied energy is dissipated as heat, while the residual power loss is 130 W. With an input current demand of 7.0 A, the supply section remains within IEC low-power feeder limits. The drive permits two input starts per minute, restricting rapid cycling to protect semiconductor components and minimize inrush stress.
The cast-aluminum housing has an IP54 rating, allowing installation in areas exposed to dust and water splashes without an additional enclosure. Dynamic events are handled by a maximum output current of 9.0 A, providing short-term headroom for acceleration or sudden load changes. Control and power conductors connect through terminals that accept wire sizes up to 2.5 mm². The drive supports unshielded motor leads up to 300 m, while shielded cable is limited to 150 m to maintain electromagnetic compatibility. A recommended 16 A upstream fuse provides protection against downstream faults. The unit withstands vibration levels up to 0.7 g and has an assembled weight of 11.0 kg, which supports manageable panel installation.
