The 175H7242 is a variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT 3000 Variable Speed Drives series. The unit converts fixed-frequency three-phase mains power into a regulated output that allows automation controllers to adjust the speed and torque of standard AC induction motors. By varying voltage and frequency simultaneously, the drive maintains process accuracy, reduces mechanical stress, and improves energy use in conveyors, mixers, and general material-handling lines. It is intended for installation inside an electrical panel, with the power stage positioned near contactors and fuses in an integrated control center.
The drive supplies 1.5 kW of rated shaft power while delivering a continuous motor current of 4.1 A to machines designed for 380/400/415 V grids. Electrical losses are minimized by an efficiency of 0.96, limiting internal power dissipation to 100 W under nominal load. When sudden load peaks occur, the inverter can momentarily raise the phase current to 6.5 A, providing additional torque without triggering a trip. The front-end rectifier draws up to 4.8 A from the supply. Danfoss recommends a 16 A upstream fuse to isolate the branch circuit. These current limits determine drive sizing, cable cross sections, and thermal management requirements inside the control cabinet.
An IP00 open-frame enclosure requires the host cabinet to protect the drive and allow unrestricted airflow across the heat sink. The drive permits up to two starts per minute, so rapid cycling must remain within this thermal limit. Unshielded motor leads may reach 300 m, while shielded leads may reach 150 m. Each conductor must have a cross-sectional area no greater than 2.5 mm². The recommended upstream fuse also protects the power path from excessive inrush current. The unit has an overall mass of 7.4 kg, allowing rail or backplate mounting without heavy supports while its modest power loss helps control the enclosure temperature.
