The 175H4136 variable frequency drive is manufactured by Danfoss within the VLT 3000 Variable Speed Drives series. It converts fixed mains power into a modulated output that controls induction motor speed in conveyors, pumps, and ventilation equipment. By modulating frequency and voltage, it delivers proportional torque, improving process accuracy and lowering energy consumption. An integral dynamic brake dissipates regenerated energy during rapid deceleration. The IP00 open-chassis format is intended for installation in a shielded control cabinet where forced airflow is already provided.
It draws an input current of 9.1 A and accepts a three-phase supply of 3 × 200/220/230 V. Under nominal conditions, the inverter delivers 7.8 A of sinusoidal output at up to 3.1 kVA, supporting a motor shaft output of 1.5 kW. Electrical conversion efficiency reaches 0.96, so only a small portion of the incoming power is lost as heat. The drive can be switched on twice per minute without stressing its precharge circuit. Motor leads can extend to 300 m when 2.5 mm² cables are used, allowing the controlled machine to be installed farther from the drive. All terminations accept conductors no larger than the stated cross section, maintaining clamp integrity during vibration.
For transient demands, the inverter can supply 12.5 A for 60 seconds, raising apparent power to 4.9 kVA without exceeding thermal limits. The recommended line protection is a 16 A prefuse, which coordinates with the converter’s semiconductor fuses and prevents nuisance trips. During normal operation, the electronics dissipate 100 W, a heat load that must be extracted by the host panel’s ventilation system. The unit has a vibration endurance of 0.7 g, supporting installation on machinery frames subject to moderate dynamic loads. Adequate cabinet ventilation is necessary to prevent heat buildup around the open chassis during sustained operation.
