Product Description:
The 175H1746 variable-speed drive is produced by Danfoss as part of the VLT 3000 Variable Speed Drives series. This AC controller converts fixed-frequency three-phase power into a modulated output so induction motors follow the required setpoint rather than running at mains speed. By matching motor speed to process demand, the drive promotes energy savings and limits mechanical wear in automated conveyor, fan, and pump installations.
The input section accepts a three-phase supply of 3 × 440/460/500 V at 50/60 Hz. An IP00 enclosure means the unit must be mounted inside a protected panel, yet it simplifies heat dissipation for high-power electronics. Drive efficiency reaches 0.96, indicating that only four percent of the incoming energy is lost as heat under nominal load. Continuous output capacity is 9.6 kVA, which is sufficient for medium-sized motors in material-handling equipment. Ground-fault and short-circuit protection are integrated, and the control board combines electronic monitoring with a thermistor to shut down the inverter if its internal temperature exceeds safe limits. A maximum upstream fuse rating of 25 A coordinates the drive with the supply circuit protection.
The motor terminals deliver 11.1 A continuously and can provide 17.6 A for 60 seconds to support acceleration peaks. Rated motor frequencies of 50, 60, 87, or 100 Hz allow the drive to support standard-speed or overspeed applications. Motor conductors may have a cross-sectional area of up to 2.5 mm², and the cable between the drive and motor may be up to 300 m long; reflected-wave effects may occur beyond these limits. Motor output is rated at 5.5 kW, which corresponds to approximately 7.5 HP. The switch-on rate is limited to two starts per minute to manage thermal loading in the power section. A selectable brake option supports rapid deceleration when the application requires shorter stopping times.
