Product Description:
The 175H1745 variable frequency drive is manufactured by Danfoss and belongs to the VLT 3000 Variable Speed Drives series. Designed for induction motor control in automated plant equipment, the unit converts fixed-frequency, three-phase mains power into a regulated output that lets process controllers adjust motor speed and torque to match load demands. By varying the frequency supplied to the stator, it supports conveyors, pumps, and fans where constant or sensor-driven regulation improves energy use. Its open-chassis construction allows mounting inside protective panels alongside PLCs and switchgear.
In continuous-torque mode, the drive draws an input current of 11.1 A and delivers the same current to the motor terminals, resulting in an apparent output power of 9.6 kVA. During this duty, it achieves an efficiency of 0.96, so approximately 200 W of the absorbed energy is dissipated as heat. For short transients, it can supply a peak current of 17.6 A, providing additional acceleration torque without overloading the semiconductors. The connected motor has a rated output of 5.5 kW, which is supported by the drive’s power section and its 440, 460, or 500 V motor voltage range. The drive operates from a 50 or 60 Hz mains supply, and its input rectifier accepts line-voltage tolerances of ±10%.
Integration into a switchboard is supported by the IP00 open-frame enclosure, which requires installation behind a protective cover and feeder protection through a 25 A prefuse. The incoming supply must be three-phase 440, 460, or 500 V with a ±10% tolerance, making the drive suitable for common industrial distribution systems. When mounted correctly, the drive tolerates sinusoidal vibration up to 0.7 g without derating. Its cast-aluminum base keeps the total mass to 14 kg, reducing the load placed on the mounting structure. Adequate panel clearances and enclosure protection are necessary because the open frame does not prevent direct contact with internal components or shield them from airborne contaminants.
