Product Description:
The 175H1740 variable frequency drive is produced by Danfoss within the VLT 3000 Variable Speed Drives series. This enclosed electronic converter receives fixed-frequency three-phase mains power and delivers a modulated output that allows control systems to match motor speed to process demand. By adjusting voltage and frequency simultaneously, the unit supports energy-efficient operation of pumps, fans, and conveyors in industrial automation.
During short acceleration or braking intervals, the drive can supply an output current of 7.7 A, corresponding to a one-minute apparent power rating of 6.7 kVA. Under steady-state conditions, the continuous ratings decrease to 4.8 A and 4.1 kVA, indicating the thermal limits used for sizing motors and protective devices. Overall conversion efficiency is 0.96, so only four percent of the input power becomes heat inside the enclosure. These electrical limits assist with calculating line-side fuse sizes, selecting braking resistors, and estimating cabinet ventilation requirements.
The aluminum housing has an ingress protection rating of IP54, allowing installation in areas exposed to limited dust and water spray without additional covers. Power terminals accept conductors up to 2.5 mm², and the output supports motor cables as long as 300 m. Internal power dissipation peaks at 130 W, which must be considered when several drives share an enclosure. The controller supports motors with an output rating of up to 2.2 kW, making it suitable for small to midrange centrifugal equipment commonly used in HVAC systems and general machinery. A maximum pre-fuse rating of 16 A protects the input stage from overcurrent. The housing measures 530 mm × 284 mm × 178 mm and has a mass of 11 kg, allowing wall or backplate mounting without heavy reinforcement.
