The 175H1733 is a variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss as part of the VLT 3000 Variable Speed Drives series. Intended for industrial automation panels, the unit converts fixed-frequency three-phase line power into modulated voltage that allows control systems to regulate induction motor speed, torque, and energy consumption. By adjusting output frequency and monitoring motor feedback, the drive maintains process stability in conveyor, pump, and fan applications while protecting connected equipment against overloads and line disturbances.
During steady operation, the inverter delivers a continuous output current of 3.4 A, producing 2.9 kVA at the terminals and supporting motors with a rated output of up to 1.5 kW. An internal IGBT bridge switches the DC link at a frequency of 4.5 kHz, providing fine control resolution when the ±10 V analog reference is used to regulate speed. Line protection is provided upstream by a recommended prefuse rated at 16 A. The copper tracks and heat sink support a total efficiency of 0.96 when the unit operates near its nominal speed. This efficiency reduces the amount of input energy converted into heat inside the enclosure and limits the cooling demand placed on the surrounding control panel.
Short-term demands are handled by a 60-second overload current of 5.5 A, allowing the inverter to supply 4.7 kVA during acceleration or sudden load changes without tripping. The drive produces a power loss of 100 W at full load, and standard panel airflow can remove the resulting heat. The terminal block accepts conductors up to 2.5 mm², giving installers flexibility when selecting wiring for the available current capacity. Shielded motor leads may run up to 150 m, while unshielded cable can extend to a maximum length of 300 m. An internal changeover relay can switch up to 250 V AC and carry 2 A, providing status or fault signals to auxiliary control circuits. The separate relay contacts allow those signals to interface with external logic without routing the motor output through the control system.
