Product Description:
The 175H1688 is an AC variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VLT 3000 Variable Speed Drives series. It converts fixed three-phase mains power into a modulated output that lets automation controllers adjust induction motor speed without mechanical throttling. By matching motor frequency to process demand, the unit improves energy use and reduces wear in pumps, fans, and material-handling equipment. In factory cabinets, the drive serves as the power stage between the control PLC and the field motor terminals.
Electrical efficiency is listed at 0.96, so approximately 4% of the supplied power becomes heat. The housing carries an IP20 rating, providing protection against finger contact but offering no protection against water. Start-stop commands are limited to 2 times per minute, as more frequent cycling can overheat the power stage. In constant-torque duty, the drive supplies 73.0 A, provided that the mains remain within 3 × 380/400/415 V ±10%. A 50/60 Hz input is accepted without parameter changes. Upstream protection allows fuses rated up to 125 A, and the maximum input current is 66.5 A. Variable-torque duty raises the output current to 88.0 A. During continuous service, the drive dissipates 2,155 W of heat, which must be removed through adequate cabinet ventilation.
The power block is rated at 37.0 kW, and it can deliver up to 52.5 kVA when the application requires constant torque. Shielded motor leads may extend up to 150 m before reflected-wave effects require output filters, and copper conductors with cross-sectional areas of up to 50 mm² fit the terminal lugs. The unit withstands vibration levels of 0.7 g, making it suitable for wall or panel mounting near rotating machinery. The enclosure weighs 54.0 kg, so the cabinet structure may require reinforcement when the drive is mounted on a side panel. The specified power loss should be considered when selecting cabinet fans and arranging airflow around the enclosure.
