Product Description:
The VACON0020-3L-0038-4+EMC2+QPES is a three-phase AC variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss within the VACON 20 Low Voltage Drives series. It modulates mains power to govern induction motor speed in automated conveyors, pumps, and general machinery. By matching motor torque to process demand, the unit improves energy efficiency while maintaining precise motion control in industrial automation cells.
The inverter delivers a continuous motor current of 38 A, allowing stable operation at rated load without thermal derating. Internal electronics are powered from a separate 24 VDC control rail that keeps I/O and logic active even when the main supply is isolated. On the line side, a nominal draw of 41.7 A establishes the cable and breaker requirements for normal duty. Speed commands can be trimmed in steps as small as 0.01 Hz, enabling fine adjustment of pump flow or conveyor speed. An enclosure rating of IP21 protects the unit against finger contact and vertically falling drips, making it suitable for installation inside a ventilated cabinet. The drive supports motors up to 18.5 kW, so it covers a wide range of mid-power applications on standard 400 V networks. Three input phases supply the rectifier, and a 40 A semiconductor fuse protects against short-circuit events at the mains terminals.
For transient demands, the controller can deliver an overload current of 57 A for a specified time interval before reverting to continuous limits. The housing measures 414 mm high and 202 mm deep, while its front width of 165 mm keeps the panel footprint compact. The installation weight is 11 kg, making the unit easier to mount on DIN rails or backplates. Power cabling uses identical 3 × 10 + 10 mm² conductors for both the mains and motor terminals, reducing the number of required wire sizes.
