Product Description:
The VACON0020-3L-0038-4-R02 is a low-voltage AC drive produced by Danfoss as part of the VACON 20 Low Voltage Drives series. By modulating the voltage and frequency delivered to a three-phase motor, the unit provides programmable speed control that improves energy efficiency and process accuracy in automated machinery. The drive accepts application commands through its discrete and analog input channels and delivers the corresponding motor power through an internal inverter stage, eliminating the need for mechanical throttling devices in fans, pumps, and material-handling equipment.
The power stage supports motors rated up to 18.5 kW without derating. At that load, the inverter supplies a nominal phase current of 38 A. The incoming mains must deliver 41.7 A, and branch protection is coordinated with a 40 A fuse that opens under fault conditions. Short-term peaks are handled by an overload margin that allows up to 57 A before current limiting engages. Two analog inputs, one analog output, six digital inputs, a single open-collector digital output, and two relay outputs provide the connections needed for speed references, interlocks, and fault signaling without additional interface cards.
The drive is intended for installation in electrical rooms or enclosed panels, and its housing carries an IP21 / NEMA 1 rating that protects against incidental contact and vertically falling water droplets. Forced convection is provided by an internal fan that moves 75 m³/h of cooling air through the heat sink to maintain the semiconductor temperature. The package measures 165 × 414 × 202 mm, allowing placement in shallow panels while leaving room for wiring and ventilation. Its installation weight is 11 kg, allowing the enclosure to be secured with suitable mounting rails or bolts without extensive structural support.
