Product Description:
The VACON0020-3L-0031-4+DLTR is an AC variable frequency drive from Danfoss that belongs to the VACON 20 Low Voltage Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency, three-phase mains power into a modulated output waveform, allowing PLCs and stand-alone control panels to regulate the speed of induction motors in conveyors, mixers, and pump skids. By adjusting the output frequency and voltage, the unit supports smooth acceleration, efficient motor operation, and precise process control in general industrial automation. Its variable-speed output can also reduce unnecessary energy consumption when an application does not require the connected motor to operate continuously at full speed.
The control section provides a frequency resolution of 0.01 Hz, allowing precise motor-speed adjustments at low operating speeds. A mains supply protected by a 40 A fuse feeds the input, which has a nominal current draw of 33 A. The drive supplies a rated output current of 31 A to the motor terminals. For intermittent loads, the inverter can deliver an overload current of 46.5 A for 60 seconds, providing additional torque during acceleration or agitation. Digital outputs can switch external relays or indicators at up to 35 V and 50 mA, while dynamic braking requires a minimum brake resistance of 17 Ω. Power conductors terminate on lugs suitable for 3 × 10 + 10 mm² mains and motor cables. Motor leads may extend up to 50 meters before additional output filters are required.
The enclosure measures 414 mm high, 165 mm wide, and 202 mm deep. Its cast-aluminum frame keeps the overall weight at 11 kg, supporting secure installation without adding excessive load to the mounting surface. The drive supports continuous operation of a four-pole induction motor rated up to 15 kW when 75 m³/h of cooling air passes through the heat sink fins. Mounting rails organize the mains and motor conductors, while clear terminal markings simplify field wiring. The enclosure depth and cable-routing arrangement provide space around the terminals for installation and service access. Adequate ventilation around the housing is necessary to maintain cooling airflow and prevent heat from accumulating near the power electronics during continuous operation.
