The VACON0020-3L-0016-4+EMC2+QPES+DLFI is an AC variable frequency drive from Danfoss, supplied under the VACON 20 Low Voltage Drives series. The unit converts the fixed mains supply into a variable-voltage, variable-frequency output so automation controllers can regulate induction motor speed without mechanical throttling. Its compact construction allows cabinet installation close to pumps, fans, or conveyors, and integrated I/O enables direct interaction with field devices. Within a machine sequence, this drive provides the torque adjustment required for repeatable motion and energy-efficient operation.
The drive has a three-phase input with a nominal current of 17.1 A and is protected by a 25 A mains fuse. Under rated conditions, the inverter supplies 16 A of continuous motor current, matching a shaft load of 7.5 kW. The output frequency reaches 320 Hz and can be adjusted in increments as fine as 0.01 Hz for precise process tuning. Six digital inputs accept start, stop, and reference signals, while two relay outputs send status information to upstream controls. Its insulated-gate output uses a default switching frequency of 4 kHz to balance acoustic noise and motor heating. Conducted emissions are suppressed to EMC class C2, and the housing has an IP21 / NEMA 1 protection rating for installation in suitable indoor control areas. A forced-air flow of 45 m³/h keeps the heat sink within its operating limits. The installation must provide adequate clearance around the fins to maintain this airflow.
