Product Description:
The VACON0020-3L-0012-4+EMC2+QPES+DLFR is a programmable AC drive supplied by Danfoss under the VACON 20 Low Voltage Drives series. This unit converts three-phase mains power into variable-frequency and variable-voltage output for asynchronous motors used in conveyors, pumps, and general machinery. A built-in brake chopper with external resistor support enables controlled deceleration, while compact DIN-rail mounting keeps cabinet layouts tidy.
The drive can power motors up to 5.5 kW and delivers a continuous output of 12 A, while the input side has a nominal current draw of 14.9 A. Short-term overload capability reaches 18 A for 60 seconds, allowing acceleration of high-inertia loads without nuisance trips. Compliance with the C2 EMC category means the factory-installed RFI filter limits conducted emissions in installations connected to public low-voltage networks. A 20 A mains fuse matches the specified input range, and a minimum braking resistance of 55 Ω protects the chopper transistor during regenerative stops. The drive requires a three-phase supply, and the supply conductors terminate on a 3 × 2.5 mm² + PE block sized for the listed currents.
The MI3 frame simplifies mechanical integration and measures 254.3 mm high, 100 mm wide, and 109 mm deep. The enclosure weighs 0.99 kg, making it suitable for lightweight panels and compact machine modules. An internal fan moves 30 m³/h of cooling air across the heat sink to maintain safe semiconductor temperatures during continuous and overload operation. Control terminals share the front face, while power terminals align at the base to keep internal current paths short. The required external braking resistor is not supplied with the drive. It should be mounted close to the unit to minimize inductive voltage spikes during braking.
