The VACON0020-3L-0009-4-X+QDSS is a low-voltage AC drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VACON 20 Low Voltage Drives series. It accepts a three-phase input and synthesizes a variable-frequency output to regulate the speed of asynchronous motors used in conveyors, pumps, and compact processing stations. Inside an automation cell, the drive functions as the link between PLC control signals and actual shaft rotation, allowing precise acceleration, controlled deceleration, and continuous throughput adjustments. With onboard I/O and braking circuitry, it covers typical machine-level motion tasks without external modules.
The inverter supplies a continuous motor current of 9 A, draws a nominal line current of 11.5 A, and tolerates short overloads up to 13.5 A for 60-second intervals. Matched to this current capability, the shaft output reaches 4 kW. Users can program the output frequency from zero to 320 Hz, and each setpoint can be adjusted in increments of 0.01 Hz so speed can be tuned closely to process demand. A 20 A mains fuse protects the input bridge, while the braking circuit requires at least 55 Ω of external resistance to dissipate regenerated energy safely. Three input phases feed the rectifier directly, removing the need for autotransformers and simplifying wiring.
The analog AI1 channel has an impedance of 250 kOhm, which prevents excessive loading of voltage transmitters. Each digital input has an impedance of 10 kOhm, providing predictable current draw for sensor outputs. A form-C relay can switch 250 VAC at 3 A to actuate contactors or signal faults. The unit is 100 mm wide, 109 mm deep, and 254.3 mm high, allowing it to fit into compact control cabinets. Its mass of 0.99 kg places minimal strain on DIN-rail hardware and permits dense installation in multi-axis cabinets.
