The VACON0020-3L-0008-4+EMC2+QPES is an AC variable-frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the VACON 20 Low Voltage Drives series. It converts fixed-frequency three-phase mains power into a controlled output that meets process requirements, allowing precise speed and torque regulation of small-frame induction motors in automated conveyors, fans, and utility pumps. Integrated braking circuitry supports rapid deceleration when the connected application returns energy to the drive. Its compact DIN-rail mounting arrangement also allows installation in control panels where available space is limited.
The drive supplies up to 3 kW of shaft power and delivers a continuous output current of 7.6 A while drawing a nominal input current of 9.6 A from the supply. During short-term acceleration, it can withstand 11.4 A to accommodate demanding starting loads. Output frequency can be adjusted in increments of 0.01 Hz, supporting fine motor control at low speeds. Conducted emissions are limited to the C2 category by an internal filter intended for industrial environments with dedicated supply transformers. The analog command terminals have an input resistance of 250 kΩ, minimizing the electrical load placed on PLC voltage outputs. Digital inputs have a resistance of 10 kΩ for reliable logic-level sensing.
Thermal management is provided by forced airflow of 30 m³/h, and unobstructed ventilation requires 100 mm of clearance above the heat sink. The recommended supply-side fuse is rated at 20 A and protects the input circuit against excessive current. Three incoming phases use 3×2.5 mm² copper conductors with an equally sized protective ground conductor. The motor cable may extend up to 30 m before additional output filters are required to control voltage rise at the motor terminals. A built-in brake chopper connects to an external braking resistor when regenerative energy must be dissipated during deceleration. The connected resistor must have a resistance of at least 55 Ω to remain within the permitted braking circuit range.
