Product Description:
The VACON0020-3L-0006-4+EMC2+QPES is an AC variable-frequency drive produced by Danfoss within the VACON 20 Low Voltage Drives series. It modulates a fixed three-phase supply voltage so small conveyors, fans, and process pumps can operate at the speed demanded by a controller instead of running continuously at full mains frequency. By adjusting motor frequency and voltage, the drive improves energy efficiency and provides tighter motion control in compact industrial machines. Its compact design also supports installation in control cabinets where available mounting space is limited.
The power section delivers a continuous output current of 5.6 A, which is the maximum steady-state load the inverter can support without derating. On the input side, the drive draws a nominal current of 7.3 A; upstream contactors and wiring should be sized for this value to avoid nuisance trips. Short overloads up to 8.4 A are tolerated for limited periods, allowing acceleration of high-inertia loads before the thermal limiting circuitry intervenes. A default carrier frequency of 4 kHz balances acoustic noise against semiconductor heating inside the MI2 frame. The output frequency can be programmed from zero hertz up to 320 Hz, which allows connected motors to exceed their base speed when a process requires higher throughput.
The drive supports mechanical motor power of 2.2 kW, aligning the unit with IEC frame motors commonly used in light-duty automation cells. Protective hardware includes a line fuse rated at 10 A, and the braking circuit accepts external resistors with resistance values as low as 118 Ω for controlled deceleration. The enclosure measures 195 mm high, 90 mm wide, and 102 mm deep, placing it in the MI2 footprint for DIN-rail or panel mounting. A three-phase input is terminated through 3 × 1.5 mm² mains conductors and a matching ground conductor, while motor leads with the same cross-sectional area simplify field wiring. The unit has a mass of 0.7 kg, which reduces the load placed on mounting rails and cabinet panels.
