Product Description:
The VACON0020-3L-0004-4-R02 is a low-voltage AC drive manufactured by Danfoss as part of the VACON 20 Low Voltage Drives series. The unit converts fixed-frequency three-phase mains into a variable-frequency output that regulates the speed of induction motors in conveyors, pumps, and machine tools. By providing open-loop control up to its rated motor size, the drive helps production equipment match torque and energy use to real-time process demands. Its design emphasizes easy installation within compact control cabinets often found in decentralized automation.
Rated motor power is 1.1 kW, which is the maximum continuous mechanical load the drive can support at the motor shaft. To supply this output, the input stage draws a nominal 4 A from the three-phase supply, while the inverter section can deliver a continuous output of 3.3 A to the motor terminals. For short-term load surges, it tolerates 5 A of output current, allowing the machine to accelerate or absorb brief torque peaks without tripping. Circuit protection is selected against a prospective fault current of 50 kA, so upstream breakers and cabling must meet this interrupt capacity. A dedicated control rail provides 24 V auxiliary power for sensors, contactors, or fieldbus modules housed in the same panel.
The housing measures 102 mm deep and 90 mm wide, with a height of 195 mm, so it fits in compact switchgear layouts or DIN-rail racks. At only 0.7 kg, the drive can be mounted without additional support plates, and vibration loads on the cabinet are minimal. Recommended mains and motor leads are 3×1.5 + 1.5 mm², and a 10 A gG fuse guards the input terminals. Signal conditioning is simplified by a 10 kΩ digital input impedance, a 250 Ω analog current impedance, and a 250 kΩ analog voltage impedance, ensuring compatibility with typical PLC outputs.
