Product Description:
The VACON0020-3L-0003-4-R02 is a low-voltage AC drive built by Danfoss for the VACON 20 Low Voltage Drives series. It controls the speed of small three-phase induction motors, allowing machinery builders to adjust flow, conveyance, or tooling rates without mechanical throttling. Within an automation panel, the unit converts fixed mains power into a variable-frequency output that supports precise process control. Its compact design is suitable for conveyors, pumps, fans, and other machinery that requires adjustable motor speed.
This model delivers 0.75 kW of motor power while accepting a three-phase supply at a continuous input current of 3.2 A. Its inverter section is rated for a steady output of 2.4 A and can withstand an overload of 3.6 A for short intervals, providing additional current during acceleration. Protection on the line side requires a 6 A fuse, and the internal IGBTs are modulated at a default switching frequency of 4 kHz to balance acoustic noise and thermal loss. Digital inputs present an impedance of 10 kΩ, so standard PLC transistor outputs can drive them directly. Frequency adjustment is available in increments of 0.01 Hz, permitting fine speed trimming in closed-loop applications.
The drive requires 10 m³/h of cooling air, which cabinet fans can supply without demanding high airflow. Its compact case is 160.1 mm high and 98.5 mm deep, while the 65.5 mm width supports side-by-side DIN-rail installation. The unit weighs only 0.55 kg, which reduces the load placed on mounting rails and panel supports. Power wiring uses a 3×1.5 mm² mains cable with a protective earth conductor. The motor leads use the same conductor cross-section to limit electrical losses over short cable runs. Adequate spacing around the enclosure allows cooling air to pass through the cabinet and helps the inverter remain within its operating temperature range.
