Product Description:
The VACON0020-1L-0004-2 is an AC variable-frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss within the VACON 20 Low Voltage Drives series. It converts constant mains power into a modulated output that lets controllers vary induction motor speed for conveyors, pumps, and other compact machines used in industrial automation. The product is intended for installations where panel space is limited but precise electronic speed regulation is required.
The drive operates from a single-phase input at 50/60 Hz and draws a nominal line current of 8.3 A. A 20 A fuse protects the supply branch against short-circuit events and is compatible with common Type C miniature circuit breakers. At the motor terminals, the drive provides a continuous output current of 3.7 A for a load of 0.75 kW. Frequency can be commanded anywhere up to 320 Hz, allowing the controller to increase or decrease the connected machine’s speed as process demands vary. These electrical limits allow the module to power small IEC motors directly and provide predictable thermal behavior inside densely populated panels. Because the converter synthesizes the output waveform digitally, speed transitions remain smooth across the full frequency range.
The power section tolerates a momentary overload of up to 5.6 A and resolves setpoint changes in increments as fine as 0.01 Hz, supporting tight speed control when working with sensor feedback. The drive can operate at ambient temperatures up to 40 °C; operation above this limit requires derating. Its compact enclosure measures 195 mm high, 90 mm wide, and 102 mm deep. The electronics and enclosure weigh 0.7 kg, so DIN rail or backplate mounting adds minimal mass to the installation. Field wiring uses a 2 × 2.5 + 2.5 mm² mains cable on the line side and a 3 × 1.5 + 1.5 mm² shielded motor cable, keeping conductor sizes consistent with the drive’s current capacity.
