The VACON0100-3L-0038-5-FLOW+R02+IP54 is an AC variable-frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss as part of the VACON 100 Industrial Drives series. Designed for three-phase networks, it modulates the output frequency delivered to induction motors, allowing precise adjustment of speed and torque in pump, fan, and conveyor applications. In automated plants, this drive eliminates the need for mechanical dampers or throttling valves, improving energy efficiency while maintaining stable flow or pressure setpoints under varying load demands.
The inverter’s continuous output current is rated at 38 A, providing the baseline thermal capacity for everyday operation. For short acceleration bursts, it can supply up to 62 A for two seconds, and its overload curve permits 1.1 × IL for one minute in every ten, providing extra capacity during process upsets. Power quality on the input side is maintained with a displacement power factor greater than 0.98, minimizing reactive current drawn from the supply transformer. All components are mounted in the compact MR6 frame, which simplifies cabinet layout and leaves space for ancillary control equipment. Two analog inputs, six digital inputs, one analog output, two 24 V auxiliary supplies, and a 24 V control input provide signal paths for pressure transducers, flow sensors, and external run commands.
The drive supports a motor output of 25 HP at 480 V and an electrical output of 18.5 kW at 400 V, enabling direct connection to medium-sized IEC motors without oversizing. The enclosure carries an IP54 and Type 12 designation, so it can be panel-mounted in dusty production areas where light water splashes may occur. A buffered 10 V reference is provided for potentiometer speed control, complementing the programmable I/O in standalone installations without a fieldbus connection.
