The VACON0100-3L-0016-4-HVAC+SBF2+IP54+DLDE is an AC variable frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss within the VACON 100 Industrial Drives series. The unit modulates three-phase power to control induction motor speed in air-handling units, pumps, and other HVAC equipment used in industrial automation. By adjusting motor frequency and torque, the drive helps maintain airflow, pressure, and energy efficiency across distributed building systems. Integrated I/O and serial network connections allow direct interaction with sensors, actuators, and supervisory controllers without requiring additional gateways.
Two analog inputs operate with an accuracy of ±1% to receive pressure or temperature references, while one analog output can source up to 10 mA into a 500 Ω load for transducer feedback. The control board supplies a 10 V reference for potentiometers. The drive has six digital inputs that accept dry contacts for start, stop, and safety interlocks. It also has a single 24 V input for external control signals and two 24 V outputs for auxiliary relays. The built-in relay has a 250 VAC/8 A rating suitable for fan contactor control. All electronics are housed in a wall-mounted enclosure with IP54 and Type 12 protection against dust and splashing water.
The fieldbus card supports PROFINET, Modbus TCP/IP, BACnet IP, and EtherNet/IP communication, allowing an HVAC controller to read status words and adjust setpoints in real time. These Ethernet services connect the drive to modern building management and industrial control networks. For legacy networks, the RS-485 port supports Modbus RTU, Metasys N2, and BACnet MSTP, allowing the same drive to communicate with older control systems. Motor temperature is protected by a 4.7 kΩ thermistor trip; when this threshold is reached, the inverter disables its output to help prevent insulation damage. The wall-mounted format reduces the need for cabinet space and provides convenient access to power, control, and communication wiring.
