The VACON0100-3L-0012-4-X-R02 is an AC variable-frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VACON 100 Industrial Drives series. It converts fixed three-phase mains power into a programmable output that lets automation controllers vary induction motor speed, direction, and torque. By using vector control algorithms, the unit serves conveyors, mixers, and pumping stations where matching motor speed to the immediate load reduces energy use and mechanical wear.
The drive has two configurable analog inputs that accept 0–10 V or 0–20 mA references, allowing simultaneous speed and torque commands. It also has six optically isolated digital inputs that handle start, stop, and preset selection for multimode control logic. The isolated analog output can drive feedback meters or PLC cards with an impedance of up to 500 Ω, while the internal 24 VDC rail supplies 250 mA for field devices. At high speed, the inverter modulates up to 320 Hz, enabling operation with high-frequency spindles. Transient demands are covered by an overload capacity of 150% for one minute in every ten minutes. Closed-loop routines hold frequency error within 0.5%, and field-oriented control keeps torque deviation below 2%. The commanded torque builds in 5 ms, providing a fast mechanical response. A 4.7 kΩ thermistor input trips the drive if the motor temperature approaches the insulation limit.
The polycarbonate housing has an enclosure rating of IP66, and the front panel meets the North American Type 4X designation. These protections allow the drive to withstand dust, powerful water jets, and corrosive spray without an additional cabinet. Shock-mounted electronics endure vibration up to 3 g. Ethernet connectivity includes Modbus TCP/IP, BACnet IP, PROFINET, and EtherNet/IP, while the RS-485 port supports Modbus RTU, Metasys N2, and BACnet MSTP for lower-level buses.
