The VACON0100-3L-0008-5-FLOW+SBF4+DPAP+DLFR is an AC variable-frequency drive manufactured by Danfoss for the VACON 100 Industrial Drives series. Designed for cabinet mounting, the unit modulates three-phase power to regulate motor speed in industrial pumping, ventilation, and material-handling applications. The FLOW control functions embedded in this model support coordinated multi-pump operation while helping maintain efficiency under partial loads. In wastewater aeration systems, booster pump skids, and HVAC return fans, the drive adjusts motor operation according to changing flow requirements. This control approach reduces unnecessary energy use when an application does not require full motor output.
The inverter delivers a continuous line current of 8 A, matching the thermal demands of a motor operating on a 400 V bus. For startup transients, it sustains 11.2 A for two seconds, while an overload capacity of 1.1 × IL permits brief operation above the continuous current level without tripping. The supported motor output is 3 kW in IEC notation or 4 HP for installations that follow NEMA conventions. The three-phase supply connects through dedicated terminals, and integrated DC-link chokes reduce the harmonics returned to the power source. These chokes also help stabilize the internal DC bus while the inverter regulates motor voltage and frequency. The available current headroom supports temporary load changes caused by sudden valve movement or rapid motor restarts.
Two analog inputs accept process references, while one analog output retransmits operating data such as motor speed. Six digital inputs provide start, stop, and preset-speed selection, and two relay outputs communicate alarm and run states to external control equipment. A thermistor input monitors motor-winding temperature and allows the drive to respond when the connected motor becomes too hot. The multi-pump function can control up to eight pumps through the drive’s integrated application logic. The electronics use the MR4 frame, are housed in an IP21 enclosure, and comply with Category C2 EMC emission limits. A built-in 10 V reference supplies external potentiometers used to provide local speed or process commands.
