The 131X6120 is a variable frequency drive produced by Danfoss for the FC 111 Flow Drives series. As a dedicated flow drive, the unit modulates the speed of centrifugal pumps and fans so flow, pressure, or level loops can remain stable without mechanical throttling. Within an automation cabinet, it functions as the power stage between the three-phase mains supply and an induction motor. This arrangement enables PLC or building management controllers to adjust motor speed in response to process demand while minimizing energy use.
Rated for a 3 × 380–480 V AC input, the inverter’s rectifier and DC link accept common low-voltage industrial supplies without an isolation transformer. Its output section supports a continuous mechanical load of 11 kW, allowing connected pumps or fans to operate at full torque across the programmed frequency range. An enclosure rated at IP20 protects live parts from solid objects larger than 12 mm. The circuit boards have a reinforced coating that guards against condensation and airborne contaminants commonly encountered in humid pump rooms. Because the drive has no brake unit, it relies on controlled ramp-down profiles or suitable external equipment when the connected load must decelerate quickly.
Control and wiring are simplified by the lack of an auxiliary power input, as all internal electronics draw power from the main supply and reduce the number of feeders required inside the cabinet. This model is supplied with no local control panel, so parameter access is handled through a remote fieldbus connection or compatible PC tools. The VLT Flow Drives product group includes functions such as flow compensation and sleep mode for water and HVAC applications. These functions allow the drive to reduce motor output during periods of low demand and resume normal operation when process conditions change. The integral back plate provides a consistent mounting surface for busbar or DIN rail layouts. It also helps align multiple drives in an enclosure without requiring additional mounting brackets.
