Product Description:
The 131X6118 is an AC variable frequency drive from Danfoss that belongs to the FC 111 Flow Drives series. Designed for centrifugal pump and blower duty, the unit modulates motor speed so the flow rate can match process demand rather than requiring equipment to run at a fixed mains frequency. Within water treatment, HVAC, and general fluid-handling systems, this drive replaces throttling valves with electronic speed control, improving energy efficiency and reducing mechanical stress on connected machinery. Its flow-oriented control capabilities make it suitable for applications in which demand varies throughout the operating cycle.
The enclosure carries an ingress protection rating of IP20, so it must be mounted inside a cabinet but remains touch-safe for field wiring. Supply conductors are accepted from industrial three-phase networks operating at 3 × 380–480 V AC, giving the unit a working range that matches common 400 V grids. At the output, it can deliver up to 5.5 kW of motor power, allowing direct connection to mid-frame induction motors used in secondary process loops. A reinforced coating is applied to the internal circuit boards to limit moisture-related corrosion in humid plant rooms. The drive is supplied without a brake unit, so dynamic braking resistors are not fitted and rapid stopping requirements must be handled through the motor or external hardware.
The configuration includes no LCP, so local keypad control is omitted and setup must be performed over the drive’s fieldbus or by temporarily attaching a service panel. The product is cataloged under the VLT Flow Drives group, and its parameter menus prioritize flow-oriented functions such as sleep mode and cascade control. A mounting back plate is included, simplifying cabinet installation by aligning the heat sink fins with forced-air channels. The drive has no auxiliary power input, which means the control electronics are energized directly from the main DC link and do not require an additional 24 V supply. Remote access also allows operating commands and status information to be exchanged with the connected control system when no local panel is installed.
