It is a single-function timer that drives two mechanically linked output cams, allowing repeatable dwell periods without relying on solid-state electronics. In automated packaging or indexing equipment, the unit converts a fixed mains supply into cyclic make-and-break motion so interlocked actuators follow an exact schedule. Its mechanical operating principle is suitable for applications that require recurring switching sequences from a fixed-frequency power source.
The timer is energized from a control transformer that delivers 120 VAC at a line frequency of 60 Hz. Internal gearing coordinates the rotation of the cam stack with the power supply so the two switched circuits remain synchronized. Both outputs use mechanical cam switches, providing positive contact separation for motor starters or pilot relays. Power can be distributed between as many as two circuits while maintaining simultaneous reset accuracy. Cycle parameters are adjusted by turning a front-mounted dial. Once started, the device repeats the selected periods until external power is removed.
Each revolution accommodates a maximum process window of 120 seconds, and the large faceplate scale is graduated in seconds so elapsed time can be viewed directly. The cam disk advances in a symmetric or asymmetric repeat-cycle mode, allowing equal or unequal on and off periods for feeders, glue applicators, or dwell clamps. A knurled pointer and concentric rings form the dial and knob assembly, allowing precise setpoint changes without tools. The visible scale supports direct adjustment when a process requires a different timing interval. Because switching is mechanical, the selected dwell remains consistent across ambient changes that might affect electronic oscillators.
