Product Description:

Danaher creates the SSM-35-F temperature control module for thermal management systems that rely on precision. Accurate power control based on real-time temperature feedback is supported by the module. Its primary function is to provide consistent temperature regulation in automated systems.

When the temperature drops below 212°F, the SSM-35-F temperature control module enters its Smart Start mode and starts operating. During this mode, it employs a linear power ramp that lasts for 4.5 minutes. After conditions normalize, Auto mode takes over and maintains a temperature setpoint of 212°F, bypassing Smart Start. When the thermocouple input is not working, manual mode is turned on. In the event of a malfunction, the module will prevent output in Auto mode until explicitly disabled. Both J-type and K-type thermocouples are compatible. An input impedance of 22 is suitable for the potentiometric signal that can be supported by the control input. For control circuits, signal integrity requires a Common-Mode Rejection Ratio of higher than 100 dB. This module is perfect for industrial automation systems that need precise and controlled temperature regulation.

The SSM-35-F temperature control module allows for extensive temperature monitoring due to its input dynamic range of 1000°F. To ensure low thermal tracking deviation, the design incorporates a stability factor of 0.02°F/°F. The SSM temperature control module is useful for automation systems that require precise temperature control. A fusible link resistor (R4) prevents overcurrent, controls voltage surges, and suppresses transients; a diode clamp and an RC filter complete the input protection. For accurate temperature readings and diagnostic LED indicators, the SSM-35-F comes with a three-digit seven-segment digital display. Smart Start is the most important operating mode, followed by Auto and Manual.

Frequently Asked Questions about SSM-35-F:

Q: Does the SSM-35-F offer protection during shorted T/C conditions?

A: Yes, the controller disables output power in Auto mode during T/C short. This ensures heater elements are not damaged by incorrect or unsafe inputs.

Q: Why does the SSM-35-F include a 22 Meg ohm input impedance?

A: A high input impedance prevents loading of the input signal. It allows precise signal reading from potentiometric sources without affecting their performance.

Q: How do LED indicators on the SSM-35-F assist diagnostics?

A: The module uses LEDs and a 3-digit 7-segment display for fault and status indication. These features support immediate fault detection and process visibility.

Q: Do Smart Start and Auto mode work together on SSM-35-F?

A: Smart Start precedes Auto mode if the temperature is under 212°F. This sequencing ensures safe warm-up before standard automatic temperature control begins.

Q: Why does the SSM-35-F use diode clamp and RC filter?

A: These components protect the input circuit from voltage spikes and noise. They maintain signal integrity and extend the lifespan of internal electronics.
